Beginner Box Stock

Last Saturday night during Points Race #5 we saw yet another first time Red Bluff Outlaws Winner in the extremely competitive Beginner Box Class. This time it was the Hayfork, CA youngster Chayce Smith scoring the victory in his Incredible Hulk themed #42C. A late race battle between himself and his buddy Corbin Seay was spectacular to watch. The two rubbed nerf bars a couple of times but never pushed too far as you could tell they were being careful not to cause the other to spin. In the end Corbin Seay would settle for the second spot in his #7C. Sloan Selig had a stellar run that was capped off with a third place finish in his #88 kart. The #11N of Mason Nelson crossed the stripe in the fourth spot. The top five was concluded with the Kevin Sharrah Designs sponsored #81 of Rylan Sharrah in the fifth position.

The night began with Time Trials; Rylan Sharrah paced the field of 23 karts with a Fastest Lap Time of 10.815 seconds. It was his first Fast Time of the season. Heat Race action saw the #81 of Rylan Sharrah keep on rolling as he scored the win in Heat Race #1, his third of the year. Heat Race #2 was claimed by Sloan Selig in his #88 kart, his second of the season. Heat Race #3 saw the #25 of Logan Reeves score his first heat win of the season. The fourth and final Heat Race saw the #42C of Chayce Smith score his third heat win of the season. Trophy Dash competition saw the #57 of Jake Nuxoll score his first Trophy Dash Win of the Season. It was a solid end to a rough night for Nuxoll as he was unable to qualify for the Main Event. He along with the rest of the field will be back and ready for action in Points Race #6.

Taking a quick look at the Points Standings, Rylan Sharrah has used consistency to maintain the Points Lead in the Beginner Box Class. Rylan picked up the win in Points Race #1 which really helped his case. He was helped out this week with Jacob Nuxoll not making the Main Event as he was able to put a 10 point gap between himself and Nuxoll who sits second in points. The #91 of Charlie Seavey currently holds down the third spot in the standings. He is 25 markers out of the lead. The #53 of Carrie Osborne continues to impress. She is fourth in points, 34 points behind Sharrah. Despite two Main Event Wins already this year, Corbin Seay still sits fifth in the standings, 41 points out of the lead.

The Box Stock Class, while struggling with a dip in the kart count this season has not struggled when it comes to on track battles. We have seen some great races so far this year and Points Race #5 was no different. Main Event action saw our defending Beginner Box Champion pick up his first career Box Stock Win with the Red Bluff Outlaws. Aiden Larimer got out front and dominated to pick up the big win in his #5 machine. He was followed across the line by the #21 of Connor Grasty, who has had a great season so far. Alan Pyszora continued to show his strengths as he came home in the third position in what was his fifth top five finish in as many races. The #2 of Austin Anderson is quietly having a strong season. He finished in the fourth position. The top five was concluded with the Whitchurch & Sons #14 of Rowdy Gramps finishing in the fifth position.

In Time Trials we saw the #29 of Chevy Schroer net his second straight Fast Time. His lap time of 10.092 was nearly two tenths of a second quicker than any other driver in the Box Stock Class. Heat Race action would see the #29 of Chevy Schroer continue his good night with his first Heat Race Win of the year in his Panthera Motorsports entry. The second and final Heat Race was claimed by eventual Main Event Winner Aiden Larimer in his #5 entry. The Heat Race Win was his third of the season so far. 250 Intermediate

The 250 Intermediate Main Event saw Suisun City, CA’s Chance Grasty dominate in his Factory QRC #1 entry. This is the second time this season that Grasty not only won the Main Event but looked untouchable in doing so. Tanner Pettit was the only driver to get close. He actually passed Grasty on the backstretch only to have the Red Flag come out and negate the gain. In the later stages Pettit would get passed for the second spot by the #18P of Jack Phillips. We don’t get to see Jack on a weekly basis much anymore but when he does race he picks up right where he leaves off. Phillips would finish second with Tanner Pettit behind him in the third spot. Cottonwood, CA driver Trace Adams piloted his #3 entry to a fourth place finish. Fifth place went to Clovis, CA driver Dominic Gorden in his Johnston Enterprises #52Y entry.

The evening once again began with the West Coast Concrete #97 of Mason Smith setting Fast Time.  This marks four weeks in a row for Smith, this time with a Lap Time of 8.723 seconds. Heat Race action would see the #22C of Carley Holmes pick up the victory in Heat Race #1. Her first Heat Race triumph of the season. Heat Race #2 was claimed by the #52Y of Dominic Gorden. It was cool to see legendary Sprint Car Crew Chief, Richard Brown hanging around the Gorden pit during the races. Heat Race #3 saw the #49 of Skylar Cole pick up his third Heat Race win of the season. Trophy Dash competition was where we got our first glimpse of how good the #1 kart was. Chance Grasty stole the show in the Dash as he picked up his first Dash win of the season.

Taking a quick look at the Points Standings, Tanner Pettit continues his stranglehold on the top spot. He currently holds a 40 point advantage over second place Chance Grasty. Grasty’s win this week helped his cause though and he will need to do a lot more of that to climb back into this race. Seth Standley currently sits third in the standings. He is just one point behind Grasty and 41 behind Pettit for the top spot. Mason Smith has used his qualifying capabilities to help him back into the top five in points. He currently sits fourth in the standings at 55 points out of the lead. The top five is concluded with the #16 of Rylinn Renaud. Renaud fought some issues throughout the night last week and hopes to have those resolved before hitting the track this weekend. He is currently 62 points behind Pettit for the top spot in the standings.

That is just what he did as he dominated in his Evan Sanders Racing #45 kart to pick up his first Red Bluff Outlaws Triumph of the season. Zach Kavert recorded his first top five of the season with a second place effort in his #2K. Mallorie McGahan wheeled her #1M to a third place finish, which was her best of the season so far. Fifth place went to the #14 of Brian Southers, his second top five finish of the season.

In Time Trials, Pete Johnston set Fast Time for the second race in a row. This time with a Lap Time of 8.580 seconds in the Gary Perkins Racing #8 entry (sub for Thorson). That time was extremely close to the Sportsman Track Record of 8.511 seconds. Heat Race action saw the #8 of Pete Johnston continue to show his talent as he secured the win in Heat Race #1. Heat Race #2 saw the #07H of Shane Graham pick up the victory, his third of the season in Heat Race competition. Heat Race #3 saw the #14 of Brian Southers score his first Heat Race Win of the season. This week we saw the #91 of Tyler Seavey score his third Fast Time of the season in the Amber Norman Racing entry with a Lap Time of 8.343 seconds. That would be the end of his good luck for the night though as he didn’t transfer out of the Heat Race, then after making it out of the B-Main was only able to garner a 12th place finish in the Main Event.
